      What is the role?


      Applications are sought from suitably qualified candidates wishing to be considered for the role of Program Facilitator in the AFP Leadership Centre’s Leadership Development and Delivery Team.

      As a Band 6 Program Facilitator, you will be responsible for delivery of leadership development training programs within the AFP and contributing to the core leadership development continuum for all AFP employees. You will work closely with a Band 7 Learning Experience Designer to develop and uplift the content of leadership packages. You will have the primary responsibility for the delivery and facilitation of the Team Leader and Sergeant Development Program, which is one of the AFP’s flagship leadership development service offerings for members transitioning into or recently promoted into substantive leadership roles.

      The successful applicant will have a demonstrated ability to effectively plan and manage their work, exercise good judgement and support team members to achieve shared outcomes. In this role, you will demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering interesting and engaging leadership content and a willingness to identify and embrace opportunities to improve ways of working.

      We are seeking someone who is passionate about driving positive change in the AFP culture through designing and delivering leadership development and training that supports the growth of strong leaders. The successful candidate will be an advocate for having a learning and growth mind set, and who demonstrates inclusive leadership at all levels.       This role is based at AFP Headquarters in Barton ACT. Flexible work arrangements can be discussed for the suitable applicant. Domestic travel may be a part of the role to participate in training development, evaluation and continual improvement, or where required for training delivery around Australia.

      You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

      What will you do?


      You will play a key role in designing learning content and delivering this through a range of delivery methods. This role may include:

      • Delivery and facilitation of the Team Leader and Sergeant Development Program (TLSDP).
      • Design and delivery of new leadership courses, either virtually or in a classroom, to meet the Core Leadership Continuum development needs of the workforce.
      • Delivery of information sessions to recruits and other groups as required.
      • Work closely with the Band 7 Learning Experience designer to design and uplift leadership development packages and sessions as required.
      • Contributing to or implementing new leadership initiatives as required.
      • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of leadership courses.
      • Managing financial resources and key deadlines to deliver key outcomes on time and within budget.
      • Assisting with the planning, coordination and delivery of global leadership programs such as the Global Policing Exchange Leadership Program (GPXLP).
      • Developing team members by fulfilling an active mentoring and advisory role, delegating work and equipping the team with the right skills to deliver leadership uplift to a high standard.

      Our Ideal Candidate


      We are seeking someone who has strong communication skills, an understanding of and the ability to implement adult learning principles. You will need to demonstrate a strong commitment to your own leadership development both formal and informal. Experience in training delivery and design is essential.

      Essential Requirements

      • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
      • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
      • Has contemporary knowledge and experience relevant to the role.
      • Previous experience producing session plans and bespoke training content.
      • Substantial previous experience facilitating training programs, either in person and/or virtually.
      • Ability to travel for interstate training delivery.

      Desirable Requirements

      • Contemporary experience in leadership development is highly desirable.
      • Cert IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent) or higher equivalent qualification.
