      Learning Center Coordinator

      Office of External Affairs

      Window Rock Center


      Duty Schedule:

      Forty (40) hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8am to 5pm (possible evening hours)

      Summary/Objective of Position:

      The position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and organizing a variety of Learning Center services and activities to assist students and advance their educational goals. Position also serves as support services to student success initiatives, such as student orientation, tutoring services, academic workshop, and organizing career development.


      Description of Essential Functions of the Position

      • Provides information to students about the Learning Center services; assists with scanning documents, printing, scheduling tutoring and study group sessions; coordinates use of computer labs with faculty, staff, and students; assist students with library services .
      • Assist faculty with printing, scanning, test proctoring, and minor IT equipment troubleshoot; conduct Aleks math placement
      • Operates a variety of virtual learning equipment and computers; coordinates with IT to test, adjust, maintain and troubleshoot; maintains the lab in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
      • Provide training to students on how to navigate the DC Portal (warrior web, blackboard, online distance learning participation, Zoom, MS teams, e.)
      • Coordinates with the first year coordinator to schedule student orientations for new
      • Coordinates with student service programs to schedule or conduct regular academic workshops targeting academic skill building, time management, study skills, and financial literacy.

      -Assist students with their scholarship application (Navajo Nation scholarship, FAFSA, private scholarship).

      • Assist with supervising part-time or full-time college student workers (work-study, tutors, workforce development or TANF participants, Chapter House student employment programs, etc.)
      • Assist with community outreach activities; network with other Colleges/Universities, tribal entities(tribal departments), and state organizations to coordinate activities for students (Career Fair, Transfer Day, local K-12 schools, classroom visits, booth setup, etc.).
      • Collects and compile data for institutional statistical reports (sign-in sheets, computer lab sign-in, tutoring services, activities/event sign-in, or grant related data reporting).
      • Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, and faculty per FERPA and College personnel
      • Attend workshop, seminars, or conferences pertaining to student services, academic services, or career development services (Student safety, campus safety, CPR, first aid, etc.)
      • Assist with promoting Dine College and serve on
      • Assist with student organization
      • Assist with keeping work place safe .

      QUALIFICATIONS

      Education & Experience


      Minimum:

      Associate Degree in Education, Psychology, or closely related field. 1-2 years of experience working with Native American students.

      Preferred:

      Bachelor Degree in Education, Psychology, or closely related field. 2-3 years of experience working in a college setting. Experience in participating in community outreach activities.

      Knowledge:

      • Knowledgeable about FERPA policies to demonstrate student
      • Knowledgeable in using Microsoft Software and student information systems (i.e. Jenzabar 1).
      • Knowledgeable in using basic office equipment (i.e. desktop computers, Xerox machines, )
      • Knowledgeable in College academic policies and procedures is assisting
      • Knowledgeable of career services for students (resume writing, )

      Knowledgeable in data collection, analyzing it, and reporting it.

      • Demonstrate sensitivity to student's needs: ability to encourage and empower students to make their own
      • Good planning, organizational, and administrative skills; demonstrate strong analytical skills, conflicts resolution skills and leadership skills, pay attention to detail; and exemplify strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication
      • Demonstrates good marketing skills (visual aid such as flyers, brochures, and knowledge of social media platforms)

      Adaptable and flexible in multiple situations and schedules.

      Abilities:

      Ability to identify student's need for support services in order to make

      Physical Requirements, Work Environment & Travel:

      -Work requires lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, and other physical exertion at times.

      Travel to other Dine College sites may be required for training or for meetings, when necessary.
