      $62,683.74 - $78,354.68 per annum (for Regular Full-Time)

      POSITION SUMMARY

      Employees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (Assembly) provide professional non-partisan services to support the democratic institution of Parliament and its members through procedural advice, administrative support and information services. The Assembly is an autonomous employer, separate from the administrative framework of B.C. government ministries and agencies.

      The Sergeant-at-Arms department is seeking professional, experienced and motivated individuals for the three auxiliary as-and-when positions and 2 regular full-time positions of Protective Service Safety Officer.

      Reporting to the Sergeant, Protective Service Safety Officers ensure the safety and security of the LABC and are responsible for carrying out approved plans and security measures to ensure the protection of Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), VIP’s, employees, the public and property, and the preservation of peace and order within the Legislative Precinct.

      QUALIFICATIONS

      Applicants must be/have:

      • Completion of grade 12 plus a minimum of one year of experience in a security related field or customer service environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • Experience in communicating effectively and interacting in a tactful, professional, and courteous manner with various office staff and the public.
      • Experience interacting with people under difficult or stressful circumstances.
      • Must successfully complete and provide a satisfactory enhanced security screening and criminal record check.

      Preference may be given to candidates with the following:

      • Recent experience as a volunteer auxiliary or reserve constable, a sheriff, a corrections officer, or a special provincial constable or special municipal constable would be considered an asset.
