      The Role

      This role is a a 12 month fixed term maternity cover.

      The Legal Operations Manager has responsibility for ensuring the Legal department operates effectively and within its agreed operations framework, ultimately ensuring the effective delivery of legal services to Conde Nast. The role holder supports the Senior Legal Operations Manager with creating, developing and embedding legal operations best practices.

      An overarching responsibility of the operations department in Legal & Policy is maintenance and upkeep of routine tasks, develop and embed frameworks and procedures for the effective and efficient management of the legal team and the delivery of its services. It also supports legal projects more widely that support Conde Nast’s strategy and objectives.

      You will be identifying and delivering changes to the working practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

      The Team

      The Condé Nast Legal and Policy team is led by the General Counsel based in our London HQ Office and is comprised of colleagues in London as well as our Legal teams based in our various markets around the world (USA, China, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, UK, Mexico, India, Japan and Taiwan). We are also supported by a network of outside counsel where necessary and work closely with colleagues in Advance Legal who provide legal counsel on corporate and trademark matters to Condé Nast and our parent company, Advance Publications.

      The Purpose of the Condé Nast Legal and Policy team is to help our business, shareholder and colleagues:

      • Make more informed decisions;

      • Solve and prevent legal and business problems;

      • Conduct business in the right way (and prove that they have done so);

      • Protect their assets, brands and people

      We achieve our Purpose by:

      • Providing advice and training

      • Resolving issues and disputes

      • Developing legal systems, processes, policies, documents and tools that enable proactive legal risk management

      • Creating and managing legal documents and record records

      • Tracking and monitoring the external legal and policy trends that will shape the Digital, Publishing and Luxury marketplace of the future.

      What will you be doing?

      Specific areas that the Legal Operations Manager will be asked to work on will include:

      • Financial and vendor account management (invoices, POs, budget, monthly reports, build relationships with our outside counsel stakeholders and maintain account management)

      • Practice & service operations - optimising the delivery of legal services by developing and streamlining processes to create value. The Legal team is under pressure to work smarter, be more agile and deliver excellent service to our stakeholders

      • Find the right process and/or tech solutions

      • Ensuring close working relations between legal and other adjacent functions such as HR, Procurement, Data, Technology, Finance

      • Work closely with the legal teams in the markets to build trust and confidence

      • Document creation, signing, negotiation and storage systems and processes

      • Ensuring appropriate alignment with Advance Legal Ops

      • Share and access legal resources

      • Support strategic planning

      • Be a point of contact for other departments who have questions about how to engage with Legal or obtain Legal advice

      • Provide support with the creation of team materials, such as presentation templates, translations, comms

      • Provide support with the promoting the team / comms / initiatives

      • Provide support with tracking of outside counsel instructions

      • Matter management - information governance and records management

      • Supporting the development of new compliance policies and processes

      • Assist with producing and/or proofing documents and presentations as requested

      Who you are:

      • Legal Operations experience

      • Experience of working in a global team, with experience and/or a strong interest in legal work and Conde Nast

      • Strong IT skills, including a comprehensive knowledge of Google Suite and/or Microsoft packages.

      • You have the ability to work on a range of tasks simultaneously, balancing priorities and demands of several people and managing workload effectively.

      • A strong team-player with a flexible approach to the varying demands of the office as a whole.

      • Ability to work under pressure and to complete tasks speedily but without compromising quality or accuracy.

      • Experience of working in a complex, multi-dimensional, multi-jurisdictional organisation handling confidential, sensitive, and commercial information

      • Good aptitude for budget and resource management

      • An interest in project management, systems and processes

      • Well organised with a good attention to detail

      • Excellent interpersonal skills

      • Experience of working in a complex, multi-dimensional, multi-jurisdictional organisation handling confidential, sensitive, and commercial information.
