Please note this is a 1-year contract position.

It happens all the time – someone asks you to do something but you’ve already taken care of it. It’s like you have an uncanny ability to anticipate a person’s needs, sometimes before they even realize what those needs are. In fact, you’ve probably figured out by now that we could use someone just like you. Reporting to the Director, Legal Services, you’ll provide support for our litigation lawyers in the Legal department.

      • You tackle even the smallest task with enthusiasm.
      • When it comes to keeping information confidential, you’re a vault.
      • Deadlines, projects, emails and ringing phones can’t compete with your stellar organization and multi-tasking skills.
      • You’ve got the three Ps covered: Professional, Pleasant and Polite.

      WHAT YOU'LL DO

      • Provide accurate, timely and professional legal support services including scheduling and coordinating meetings, appointments, and conferences.
      • Assist lawyers with the conduct of insurance defence files including identifying missing information, identifying when a file requires review, coordinating documentation/information requests, and follow-up correspondence.
      • Help the legal team in conducting research including accessing relevant case/file information and precedents from a variety of legal information sites.
      • Open and close files.
      • Draft pleadings, applications and affidavits.
      • Take care of general clerical and administrative duties.
      • Generate monthly billings and related reports.

      WHAT YOU'VE DONE

        • You have a diploma or college degree in paralegal studies or equivalent work experience
        • You have experience with Office 365, word processing and WestLaw.
        • You’re comfortable working on a computer and are open to learning new systems if necessary.
        • Qualified to become a Commissioner for Oaths
