      Simon & Schuster is looking for a full-time Legal Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collegial and collaborative team. We are looking for a highly motivated, detail-oriented team player with a passion for books and an interest in a legal career. This role is based in New York, and the successful candidate will be required to come into the office regularly, with some hybrid work.

      Key Responsibilities:
      Day-to-day administrative support for the legal team, including the EVP & General Counsel and the other department attorneys
      Formatting, editing and redlining documents, including agreements, contracts, letters and other legal correspondence
      Printing, distributing and filing documents
      Maintaining comprehensive and accurate records
      Circulating documents for signature (wet ink and electronic)
      Scheduling and coordinating meetings among parties with demanding calendars
      Taking notes during meetings
      Booking travel and preparing expense reports
      Handling department mail
      Maintaining office supplies
      Assisting in any tasks or projects as needed

      Requirements:
      2-3 years of related legal experience
      Computer literacy with proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
      Meticulous attention to detail and top-notch organizational skills
      Ability to multitask, prioritize and handle confidential information with good judgement and discretion
      Excellent communication and writing skills
      Adaptable, resourceful and proactive problem-solver who enjoys a fast-paced environment
      Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize across multiple projects
      Notary public a plus, though not required

      ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

      The annual salary for this position is $60,000.00 - $65,000.00

      The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
