      The Legal Counsel will provide effective legal services for Samsung Electronics Canada and its Samsung Ads Canada division. The role will primarily focus on providing support for contract drafting and negotiation in the AdTech and marketing space.

      The candidate should have experience with drafting and negotiating different types of technology agreements, including software and service agreements and various AdTech agreements. The successful candidate will also be expected to provide support with respect to privacy law matters, including reviewing data protection agreements and conducting privacy reviews including but not limited to privacy impact assessments.

      Role and Responsibilities

      • Provide general legal advice to Samsung Electronics Canada and its Samsung Ads Canada division as requested by the General Counsel or Assistant General Counsel.
      • Negotiate and draft a variety of different contracts, and advise the business of the legal risks.
      • Review advertising and marketing materials for both the AdGear division and Samsung Electronics.
      • Review the handling of personal information in AdTech and marketing matters. This includes coordinating closely with the business teams to determine data usage and contribute to practices and compliance with privacy laws, including anti-spam legislation.
      • Provide support for additional corporate and commercial matters as required.

      Skills and Qualifications

      Requirements:

      Education:

      • Successful completion of a Bachelor of Law (LLB) program.
      • Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario or the law society of another Canadian province.

      Knowledge:

      • Knowledge of the Ad Tech space, including targeting initiatives, is preferred.

      Experience:

      • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience practicing law at a law firm or in-house corporate environment.
      • Experience with advising on privacy and advertisement laws.
      • Excellent written, verbal and analytical skills, with an ability to communicate complex issues in a simple and efficient way.
      • Strong reviewing, drafting and negotiating skills when it comes to a wide variety of contracts.
      • High degree of ethics and integrity, and ability to inspire confidence, trust, and respect of key stakeholders.
      • Solid organizational skills and the ability to establish and focus on key priorities while taking a hands-on approach to managing issues and contributing to projects and transactions.
