- Assists with reviewing all assigned County legislation for financial impact and preparing oral or written reports for the County Council Administrator and Deputy Administrator on the purpose, content, and fiscal impact of each Council bill and Council resolution.
- Conducts the necessary legislative, policy, and financial research to effectively assist the County Council in considering each piece of proposed legislation.
- Attends County Council committee meetings and Council hearings. Works with staff to assist in preparing impact statements.
- Assists in conducting special fiscal research and analysis as directed by Council Administrator, Deputy Administrator, and County Auditor on a broad spectrum of County government operational and budget issues and concerns.
- Assists in presenting key findings and recommendations to the County Council through written reports and briefing papers.
- Assists in analyzing and monitoring proposed expense budgets of major County agencies through annual and mid-year reviews, as assigned. Assists in drafting reports with supported recommendations concerning funding levels.
- Attends all budget work sessions as requested. Coordinates with the Committee Directors on budget review issues as requested.
- Provides analysis on policy and regulatory practices impacting the County.
- Works with the Council Administrator, Deputy Administrator, and/or Council Members and staff to conduct policy reviews.
- Performs other duties which may not be specifically listed in the class specification or position description but which are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's class of work.

- Graduation from college with major course work in Liberal Arts, one of the Social Sciences, or Public or Business Administration.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
- Proficient experience using Microsoft Applications.
- Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience creating standard operating systems for internal processes and workflows.
- Experience in project management to meet and manage multiple timelines.
- Expert communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment and thrive independently in the management of project work.
- Ability to multi-task and meet established deadlines for multiple projects. simultaneously in a high-pressure production environment.
- Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency.
- Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties.
- Participate as an "Essential" employee in the department's snow and ice control program and other emergency or special activities as assigned.
- Upon the satisfactory completion of a probationary period, entry-level incumbents may be non-competitively promoted to the Administrative Assistant 2 full performance level at management's discretion.

The Prince George's County Government County Council is seeking qualified applicants to fill a Legislative Budget and Policy Analyst position, grade G18-21, within its Office of Budget Policy Analysis Division.
About the Position :
This entry-level professional and administrative staff work provides important assistance within a department or agency. Incumbents perform routine and less complex duties and responsibilities in order to relieve a management official of a considerable amount of administrative detail in such functional areas as budget, finance, personnel, data processing, and administration. Under close supervision, employees perform work assignments in accordance with departmental policies, rules, and regulations. An administrative supervisor evaluates work through conferences, reports, and evidence of the accomplishment of assigned tasks.What You'll Do :
