Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or a related field
Experience developing 6–12 mathematics curriculum (e.g., student-facing lessons, teacher-facing resources)
At least five years of 6–12 classroom teaching experience
Explain what separates a great math lesson from a mediocre one.
Describe the qualities, features, and resources that make for a great math curriculum.
Explain how marginalized and excluded communities are affected by the current math education system, and what role curriculum might play in addressing that reality.
Articulate ways in which technology can help students learn math as well as ways in which technology can hinder students and teachers.
Provide constructive feedback on existing Desmos lessons and resources, including how to make them more accessible and culturally responsive.

Give constructive feedback to your colleagues on existing lessons or on new lessons they’re developing. You’ll offer feedback in written form and also via video chat because conversation is a natural way humans think together.
Partner with another lesson developer to brainstorm and cooperatively build a new lesson. Throughout this process, you’ll also collaborate with other members of our curriculum team.
Contribute to the development of our print-based curriculum resources (e.g., assessments, practice sets, student notes, etc.).
Set and meet an ambitious goal for your own lesson creation. This will be split between lessons you’ll adapt from your colleagues’ ideas and lessons you’ll adapt from your own ideas, using the lesson-building skills you’re importing from your classroom experience. You’ll continue to support and be supported by the rest of the curriculum team throughout your tenure at Desmos.
Identify ways that our equity principles can further inform our approach to curriculum development, both in terms of the products we make and the processes we use to make them.
Work with a small team to revise an existing unit of our middle school curriculum.
Offer feedback to the product and engineering teams to help drive future development of the tools we use to build our curriculum.
Participate in a classroom visit (virtually, if necessary) to watch students learning from one of the lessons you helped develop!

We’re on a mission to help every student learn math and love learning math. Our free tools and activities are used by tens of millions of students and teachers around the world. The current version of our middle school and Algebra 1 curriculum blends both paper and digital tasks to support social classrooms, invite mathematical creativity, and provoke wonder. We are continuing to develop our high school curriculum and are developing a next edition of our middle school curriculum based on feedback from teachers, students, and school leaders.
We’re seeking individuals with at least five years of 6–12 classroom teaching experience who will collaborate with us on creating new lessons and units, as well as revising and strengthening what we’ve already built. You’ll also join us in the work of learning about inequity in education (systemic and otherwise), and identifying and attending to the needs of marginalized and excluded communities in order to build engaging and effective lessons that support all students.
This role is a great fit for you if you have strong opinions about what works in math education, and the ability to help us understand the perspectives of people who are historically marginalized and excluded in mathematics, education, and technology. You are excited to contribute your opinions and understanding to help shape our curriculum, and you’re eager to collaborate with other members of our curriculum team to build delightful math learning experiences.

What we offer:

The gross salary range for this role is $80,000-$105,000.
