- Assist patrons with reference and research services, including locating materials, accessing databases and answering inquiries.
- Assist patrons with eBooks and other digital library technologies.
- Create, market and maintain innovative library programs for adults and seniors.
- Provide patrons with excellent Reader’s Advisory services across all age groups.
- Have familiarity with collection and popular author’s series across all age groups.
- Manage collection development projects to keep collections healthy and up to date, including evaluating, weeding and ordering new titles.
- Have excellent communication skills with patrons and staff.
- Have familiarity with all major library systems and technologies.
- Have ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Possess strong customer service skills and a passion for assisting patrons with their information needs.
- Possess a strong sense of community involvement and desire to engage the population.
- Have experience writing grants.
- Education : Master’s degree in library science from an American Library Association accredited university or equivalent.
- Experience : Minimum of three years related experience. Requires a working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment and procedures.
- Licenses/Certifications : Valid AZ Driver’s License upon hire.
- Experience in a municipal or government setting.

The City of Peoria is looking for an innovative and well-rounded individual to join the Peoria Public Library Team as a Librarian for its Main Library location. The successful candidate will collaborate with all our locations, serve on committees and partner with outside agencies and community groups to analyze the needs of the Peoria Public Libraries and address current trends. This individual will assist public service desks, provide reference services, maintain library collections, advise the public in their use of digital and traditional materials, apply for grant opportunities and provide programming to patrons of all ages, with an emphasis on adult services.
