      JOB TITLE:

      Library Assistant, Senior in Resource Discovery and Management Division

      JOB PURPOSE:

      This position catalogs gifts and purchased materials. It performs the preservation of maps for the collections and is also responsible for training student employees in the encapsulation of maps for preservation. This position also creates invoices for credit card purchases in the library system, works with vendors, and handles the assessment of lost and damaged print materials. This reports to the Supervisor of Library Services, acquisitions, Resource Discovery, and Management Division.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Perform copy cataloging. Edit cataloging records to accurately reflect the items being described, following local and national standards. Receiving, condition checking, and searching the library system for held titles of gift collections.
      • Create invoices for credit card purchases in the library system.
      • Handle the assessment of billables and of damaged print materials.
      • Return of McNaughton popular reading titles to vendor. Work with the coordinator of the program to resolve problems or make changes.
      • Perform preservation of maps for the collections, including training student employees in the encapsulation of maps for preservation.
      • Perform the condition check and add appropriate notes to the HathiTrust commitment of retention for the libraries.
      • Prepare all outgoing shipments for all formats to be cataloged by the Backstage vendor and receive materials after they are cataloged. Verify records and prepare items for processing.

      SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

      REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

      This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

      Education: Associate’s degree or 60 hours college-level credit hours.

      Experience: One year work experience in a library or office setting.

      DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability
      • Demonstrated attention to detail
      • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software
      • Experience with a library management system, such as Alma
      • Library cataloging experience or knowledge of library cataloging standards
      • Experience with or knowledge of acquisition processes
