      This is a Department Promotional examination and is open to eligible employees of the Library Department who have permanent status in the classified service and received an overall standard or better on their last employee performance report.

      Shift Work: Library branches may be open various days and hours of the week, to include evenings and weekends.

      EXAMINATION SCHEDULE:
      • Written Examination: will be conducted on June 14, 2024

      Examination components for promotional testing will be administered during the scheduled date/time/location without exception.

      Written Exam (Weight 100%): Will be conducted for the purpose of assessing the applicant's knowledge of library organization, pro cedures and policies; customer service principles; evolving technologies in the digital media field, and other relevant subjects.

      Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the exam process.

      The Human Resources Division may solely conduct an appraisal of application materials should there be an insufficient number of candidates to warrant a written examination.

      Minimum Qualifications/Employment Standards
      Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a Bachelor's degree.

      Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License at the time of appointment.

      Specialized California Driver's Licenses may be required depending upon assignment.

      Following an offer of employment, you may be required to submit to post offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.
      This is a department promotional examination for qualifying employees of the Kern County Library Department. This examination will establish an eligible list from which immediate appointment(s) will be made. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
