      St. Louis County Library

      The Acquisitions Department is seeking a full-time Library Associate to engage in research, purchasing, housing, replacement and repair of special materials in the library collection under the direction of the Acquisitions and Collection Development Manager.

      The mission of the St. Louis County Library is to provide the resources and services to enrich individual minds, enhance lives and expand perspectives. SLCL is an award winning library system with branches throughout St. Louis County. We have transformed into a meaningful community resource with updated facilities and an array of programs and partnerships that serve over 860,000 patrons.

      Salary: $36,445.00

      Hours: Monday-Friday, 40 hours a week

      Essential Responsibilities:

      1. Works closely with the Special Materials Coordinator (SMC) to organize, maintain, and add to the Library Special Materials Collection (Library of Things).
      2. Processes special materials to prepare them for circulation to the public.
      3. Supports the ongoing maintenance, replacement, and repair of special materials in the collection.
      4. Coordinates with the SMC to develop or update circulation procedures for special materials collection.
      5. Monitors the condition of special materials items in the collection.
      6. Other duties as assigned.

      Job Qualifications:

      • High School Diploma
      • Ability to manage several projects at one time, establishing priorities and taking direction as needed
      • Must possess a commitment to a high level of public service to Library patrons and staff
      • Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills
      • Must possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record
      • Ability to work effectively with others in a professional manner

      Physical and Mental Requirements:

      • Ability to operate a motor vehicle
      • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
      • Ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously
      • Ability to operate various types of Library equipment
      • Ability to use a pc word processing, email and Google Suite
      • Ability to deal sensitively and tactfully with partners, patrons, and Library employees
