Manage inter-library loans and document delivery;
-
Assist with loan and reference queries, including rostered service desk shifts;

Deliver quality customer service with a capability to prioritise requests, based on operational requirements;

Provide web-based and library database searches for current awareness products and client requests;

Maintain library resources, records and systems, through cataloguing, abstracting, collection maintenance, and digitisation projects;

Assist with library outreach programs to promote library services, including displays and presentations;

Contribute and maintain a high quality and respected service to a wide variety of rank and roles with the AFP;

A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.

Formal qualifications in library science, such as a Diploma in Library and Information Studies, at a minimum; or contemporary demonstrated equivalent skills.

Formal qualification in Library Studies/Science relevant to the role.

What is the role?
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Library Technician.
The AFP Library & Knowledge Services team delivers a wide range of open source information products and services in support of enabling our police to deliver maximum impact to the criminal environment. The team works collaboratively with various external partners to deliver library services in a busy and dynamic environment.
The role is in the AFP Library & Knowledge Services team, AFP College, Barton, Canberra. It primarily requires a person who has highly developed organisation, collaboration, and customer service skills and who can deliver within critical timeframes due to the operational nature of the AFP. The responsibilities of the role are vital in creating access to library and information resources.
You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

Please note: this role has been advertised in multiple cities, however it is based in Canberra and interstate candidates will be required to relocate.
