      Reports To : Director of Library Services

      Pay Range : $22.21 to $24.66 per hour based on experience


      Job Summary : The Library Technician supports the Tsuzuki Group Library (Upper School Library), ‘Iolani School Archives, and Sullivan Center (SCIL) Faculty Workroom. This position is primarily responsible for administrative, technical, and general office aspects of library and archives operations such as circulation, acquisition, collection development, cataloging, file management, report preparation, and technical processing of library materials (books, magazines, etc.). Promotes a positive and service-oriented image within and outside of the library.


      Essential Responsibilities :


      • Technical processing of all incoming library materials, i.e., cover, barcode, stamp, cataloging assistance, etc..

      • Maintain the library budget and provide monthly reports.

      • Coordinate requests for collaboration centers and library instruction.

      • Staff the library circulation desk (check-ins, check-outs, fines, etc.).

      • Shelve library materials.

      • Place orders to library and archives vendors, and track invoices.

      • Place orders and monitor inventory of office supplies.

      • Maintain library and faculty workroom facilities (replace copy machine cartridges, monitor and refill supplies, submit work orders, etc.).

      • Assist in maintenance and troubleshooting of computer equipment and copy machines in the library and faculty workroom.

      • Answer phone calls and monitor the general library email account.

      • Collect, sort, and distribute mail for library and archives staff.

      • Supervise student library patrons and student interns as needed.

      • Other duties as assigned.


      Minimum Qualifications :


      • Associate Degree or 2 years of college.

      • Related experience and/or training preferred.

      • Experience with purchasing and budget management.

      • Proficiency with Google Apps Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Calendar, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).

      • Highly organized with attention to detail and accuracy.

      • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.

      • Ability to multitask and prioritize duties/projects.

      • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

      • Familiarity with or ability to learn integrated library systems and Dewey Decimal.


      Physical Requirements :


      • Attendance is required 8 hours per day.

      • Ability to sit for extended periods.

      • Ability to stand and/or walk for sustained periods of time.

      • Full leg and arm mobility (walking, ability to access overhead shelves).

      • Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds.

      • Full range of head, neck, and back movement; unrestricted ability to bend knees, raise arms above the head, and to move hands, fingers, and wrists.

      • Ability to see and hear within normal parameters with or without correction.

      • Due to work in close proximity to children, must pass fingerprinting and background clearance checks.

      • TB clearance required.
