Responsible for inspecting, repairing, installing, modifying, and maintaining electrical/electronic systems, circuits and equipment and related duties. Works from blueprints, sketches and wiring diagrams, using voltmeters, meggars, ampmeters, leakage test recorders and other equipment to maintain the electrical systems and equipment of the facilities on a regular schedule, following hospital policy and procedure.I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Maintains all electrical motors and systems. Maintains and replaces motors, auto/manual starters and intricate components of control systems. Inspects and tests all electrical equipment and systems, such as electrically operated heating and cooling pumps, critical systems, generators, fire alarms, building egress, air handling and air conditioning systems, exhaust systems and vacuum pumps for proper operation. Cleans and tightens all connections. Replaces worn out or defective parts. Checks voltage, load and insulation of electrical power distribution systems consisting of normal emergency power systems up to and including 480 volts, single and 3 phase. Assists others with electrical maintenance and repair. Inspects electrical and mechanical systems and equipment in pump room, mechanical rooms and other areas. Exercises and tests emergency power generating and switching equipment.
2. Maintains all required records. Records all work not assigned on maintenance work log in computer system. Completes work slips as needed. Maintains and compiles records of preventive maintenance performed on applicable history card. Maintains testing schedule for various equipment. Orders and maintains assigned supplies. Applies for and maintains electrical permits as required.
3. Maintains clean and safe work area. Assures proper care in the use and maintenance of tools, equipment and supplies. Adheres to safety standards, procedures and regulation. Installs new power distribution systems, panel boards, outlet boxes, junction boxes, cables, conduit and lighting.
4. Complies with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
5. Attends variety of meetings, conferences, and seminars as required or directed.
II. Position Qualifications:
Broad training in the electrical field requiring the use of advanced shop mathematics together
with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, etc., and various precision measuring
instruments. Electrician license required. Basic computer skills helpful.
