      As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will assist our registered infusion nurses and/or providers with administering patient care so they can focus more closely on the infusion portion of their position.


      Responsibilities

      Here's what might happen on a typical day…

      The role of a Licensed Practical Nurse at Tennessee Cancer Specialists allows you to assist in multiple areas of the clinic. As an LPN, you may either work closely with our RNs in the infusion area or with our providers to help maintain an efficient patient flow through the clinic. You will also float to several offices, including our Sweetwater, Jefferson City, and Newport locations.

      Your unique skillset makes you an invaluable TCS team member, and your attention to detail allows you to safely care for patients while keeping up with the fast pace of a full patient schedule.

      Experiences that matter…

      • You have experience with phlebotomy and administering injections. Your attention to detail will ensure all treatment requirements are met and pre-authorizations are complete.
      • In conversation with our patients, you will provide excellent customer service by rolling out the red carpet to meet their needs and make them feel as comfortable as possible during a challenging time in their lives.
      • Whether talking to patients about their lab results or scheduling tests and procedures at other healthcare facilities, your friendly and professional attitude projects through the phone.
      • Your positive attitude and boundless compassion allow you to build rapport with our patients when greeting and screening them for necessary information.
      • Experience with navigating Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and familiarity with HIPAA as well as OSHA and other safety guidelines will allow you to quickly adapt to the workflow of this position.
      • Communicating respectfully and in a timely manner will keep all necessary team members on the same page to maintain the quality care of your patients.
      • Your go-getter work ethic will have you ready to jump in and help out with any additional tasks.

      Qualifications

      For your safety, keep this in mind:

      • This position will require standing and walking for extended periods of time.
      • Any lifting should be limited to 40 pounds or less.
      • You will need manual dexterity, proper hand-eye coordination, full range of motion to possibly assist with lifting patients, and corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
      • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

      We feel this position requires these basics:

      • The completion of an accredited practical nursing program is required as well as a Tennessee State Practical Nursing licensure.
      • Your current BLS certification will be required upon hire as well.
      • Lastly, we feel that you will be most successful with at least three years of practical nursing experience to provide you with the background needed for this position. Experience with oncology, hematology, urology, or other similar specialties is strongly preferred.
