      Overview The R&D Associate Principal Scientist will bring a unique set of nutrition and food science experience to lead R&D projects in Science & Technology team at PepsiCo Life Sciences. This role will utilize strong nutrition science skills while leveraging food science education/experience to build/increase technical knowledge and provide scientific thought leadership for current brands and future innovations. Responsibilities Develops research projects and/or research pipeline strategies across short, medium, and long-term time horizons. Develop research program project plans, including project scope, design basis, success criteria, timelines, resources need, critical assumptions, and potential issues. Lead and define opportunities that create tangible value including leading current state assessments, identifying opportunities, and developing business case and project plan to achieve the right value led outcomes within PepsiCo Life Sciences organization. Effectively communicates accurate scientific information in concise, consumer friendly language for development of consumer-facing materials and communications. Independently provides scientific analysis/interpretation and technical insights for product formulations, labeling and advertising claims. Effectively communicate scientific/nutrition science topics, product information to product developers and/or non-scientific audiences by strategic communication and storytelling skills. Support cross-functional teams (nutrition, product development, regulatory, region etc.) with ingredient claim substantiation reviews and competitive landscape analysis. Contribute to multi-functional teams within R&D and across other functions in PepsiCo. Drive external partnerships/collaborations/vendor relationships by leading project communications and legal agreements. Qualifications MS or PhD degree in Nutrition, Food Science, Life Sciences, Biology or equivalent degree 5-10 years of industry experience with particular emphasis in the Nutrition, Health and Food Science space in a CPG and/or multi-national corporation Ability to clearly communicate complex technical information to a variety of internal and external partners Proven ability to deliver against clear, actionable strategies and priorities Enthusiastic, curious, proactive, analytical, open-minded and can-do attitude with a strategic mind-set Demonstrated ability to function effectively in stressful, fast-paced situations, with the personal leadership to influence and positively motivate self and peers Proven ability to manage multiple assignments/ tasks Strong communication skills (oral and written) Ability to work within a Matrix organization EEO Statement All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability status.
