  Job Summary:

  Engineers Country Club, located in Roslyn Harbor NY, is hiring 10 lifeguards for Summer 2024. Applicants must be certified in Nassau County or willing to obtain the Nassau County Certification prior to starting work.

  Position Description and Summary

  Responsible for the safety of all members, guests, and employee partners in and around the swimming pool during posted hours of operation and special events or private functions.

  Essential Functions & Accountabilities:

  1. Ensure all aspects of pool safety by enforcing all pool rules and Club policies.
  2. Observe and enforce swimming pool hours of operation.
  3. Maintain cleanliness of pool deck, lounge chairs and tables to ensure the safety of those in the area.
  4. Straighten pool furniture and clean all pool areas at the beginning of each shift, throughout the day and at the end of each shift so that the safety of the members will be protected, and the pool area will maintain its standard of cleanliness.
  5. When multiple lifeguards are on duty, they must be positioned strategically away from each other, ensuring all blind spots of the pool are being observed, and ensuring they are attending to members’ needs. One lifeguard must be in the lifeguard's chair at all times during weekends, holidays or at the discretion of the General Manager.
  6. Alternate with other lifeguards at pool reception desk, registering all members and guests entering the pool area.

  • Registration entails accurately noting each member’s ID and advising members and guests of the price for entry, i.e., varies by weekday/weekend and membership type.

  1. Be dressed appropriately in a clean uniform at all times while at work and on club property.
  2. Lifeguards must ensure there is another lifeguard on duty prior to taking a break, i.e., meal, restroom, etc.
  3. Maintain positive, friendly, and professional relations with members, guests, and club employees.
  4. Promote club events.
  5. Promptly notify supervisor of member/guest complaints or other issues.
  6. Lock pool gate at the close of each shift.
  7. Attend to all emergencies/injuries by filling out incident reports.

  Additional Responsibilities

  1. Ability to communicate effectively with proper grammar.
  2. Responsibility with contacting your manager with regard to absence from work and/or ensuring coverage of your shift with another pool staff member.

  Compensation : $18.00 - $23.00 per hour (dependent on experience)

  Experience: ideally 2 years of prior experience

  Hours: Full-Time Seasonal

  Attendance: Outlined in a weekly schedule produced by the Sports Club Director and/or the Pool Manager. Monday through Sunday from 5/24/2024 through 9/2/2024

  Education : High School or Undergraduate
