      Lifeguard | West Wave Pool and Leisure Centre

      Working as a lifeguard is an opportunity for you to make a real difference in the community. Lifeguards are the key to ensuring a safe environment for our customers and are essential to the successful running of our aquatic facilities.

      Pool lifeguards are observant, patient, and good with people. Their skill set means they have the confidence to act in a quick, responsible, and calm way.

      As a Lifeguard you are responsible for:

      • Providing a safe environment through proactive supervision and positive interaction with customers
      • Educating and enforcing pool rules
      • Responding to any First Aid emergencies
      • Ensuring our pool and the surrounding areas are always clean

      We will provide ALL training for you free of charge and will pay for you to attend the training to enable you to get your Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate (PLPC).

      We are looking to fill the following permanent part-time positions. The hours and shifts for each are as follows:

      • #1 12 hours per week
        • Saturday 10:30 - 19:00 and Wednesday 15:30 - 19:30
      • #2 16 hours per week
        • Saturday 9:30 - 18:00, Monday & Thursday 16:00 - 20:00

      We are looking for people who are strong swimmers, dedicated to helping others.

      The first step in becoming a lifeguard for Auckland Council is to be able to pass this swim test. Please only apply for this position if you feel you can:

      • Swim 200m in less than 6 minutes
      • Swim 50m Breaststroke
      • Swim 25m Sidestroke
      • Duck, dive and retrieve an object from the bottom our deepest pool (5M)
      • Tread water for 5 minutes

      You will need to be available available for the Lifeguard training on 20 - 31 May 2024 (Weekdays from 8am to 4pm) at West Wave

      We will provide ALL training for you free of charge and pay you to attend the training.

      Pay rate: $26 /hr
