      Under direct or general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, all of these part-time positions assist in all aquatic programs, classes, and activities at City of Folsom run facilities (Steve Miklos Aquatic Center, Vista del Lago High School pool), while providing excellent customer service.

      Schedule & Pay
      • Hours range from 5am – 11pm, 7 days per week.
      • Additional hours may be assigned as needed for outreach activities, training, and other misc. department activities.
      • Hourly pay rate will depend on the candidate's experience.
      • Part-time positions are hourly and not eligible for benefits, and are limited to working 999 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). No full-time regular appointment will be made from this class.

      Mandatory for Lifeguards (Only one course required, either course B1 or B2)

      • Ellis Lifeguard Training Course 120801- B2 4/20, 4/21, 4/27, 4/28 10am – 7pm $175
      GROUP Interview (Swim Instructor, Front Office- Counter Staff, Snack Bar Party Host)

      IMPORTANT CUT-OFF DATES:

      Lifeguard Applications must be submitted prior to first day of Ellis Training: 3/25/24 or 4/20/24.

      All other applications must be submitted prior to group interview date: 3/13/24 or 4/6/24.

      Lifeguard/Swim Instructor
      • Provide surveillance of swimmers and guests during park hours, special events, and training sessions
      • Responds to emergency situations at facility
      • Enforces rules and regulations of city aquatic facilities
      • Advises aquatics management of unsafe and unsanitary conditions
      • Provides superior customer service to all guests by assisting in a polite and expedient manner
      • Performs daily routine chores and maintenance of facility to ensure an orderly and clean facility
      • Performing within Ellis certification standards while adhering to City of Folsom aquatic safety training guidelines.
      • Administers and coordinates emergency first aid as necessary.
      • Provide swimming instruction to participants ranging in age and ability from infants to adults.
      • Other related duties as assigned.
      Front Office - Counter Staff
      • Providing excellent customer service to guests.
      • Assist with facility entry, program registration, answering phone calls, emails, and facility questions.
      • Processing daily entry and program revenue, maintain a clean and orderly office.
      • Other related as duties assigned.
      Snack Bar & Party Host
      • Provides excellent guest service in delivery of snack bar and birthday party programs
      • Responsible for selling and serving food from the Poolside Cafe at the Steve Miklos Aquatic Center.
      • Minor food preparation and cash handling skills required
      • Daily cleaning of snack bar, snack bar equipment, snack bar front counter, courtyard, and trash removal.
      • Responsible for interacting with guest during birthday parties.
      • Party Host duties will include:
        • Provide excellent customer service
        • Set up party area
        • Assist in the serving of food and beverage
        • Assist parents or host of party with misc. party tasks.
        • Clean party area and remove trash from party location and facility.
        • Some assistance with inventory and acquiring of food may be required.
        • Enthusiasm, positive energy, and maturity.
        • Ability to communicate well orally and in writing.
        • Ability to organize, prioritize and pace duties and tasks.
        • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
        • Ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative working relationships with coworkers and the public.
        • Knowledge of Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Training standards.
        E xperience
        None required, however individuals with lifeguard experience is desirable.

        Other Qualifications
        • At least 15 years of age, with the ability to obtain a work permit if still in High School or under the age of 18.
        • Available nights, weekends, holidays, early morning, and late evenings.
        • For Lifeguards: Successful completion of Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Training.

        P hysical Requirements
        Frequent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, stooping, and crouching. Work is performed outdoors year-round. Must be able to work in extreme heat and cold temperatures for an extended period of time.

        Other Requirements
        These positions will be scheduled as needed. Candidates may be asked to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
