      Group/Division

      The Office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) plays a critical role in developing advanced long-range technology in collaboration with product divisions and strategic marketing, working on future technology like light sources, lasers, and sensors. We are engaged in the research and development process, and once the technology is mature, we partner with product engineering groups who then build products based on the technology we’ve developed. The Office of the CTO also provides technical input into KLA’s strategic planning process, program reviews and Product Life Cycle (PLC) phases. We provide our broad technology expertise and cross-division experience to ensure we leverage the collective knowledge within our company.

      Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

      Research and development for Ultra-high damage resistant optics, coatings, and materials for inspection systems application, along with a team that specialize in the development of unique solutions and materials for the next generation light sources and optics used in KLA equipment.

      Responsibilities

      • Understanding of the physics of light/matter interaction

        • CW vs pulsed light sources

        • Overlapping multi-wavelength sources

      • Optic substrates and coating technology

        • Substrate knowledge – CaF, Fused Silica, Sapphire, quartz, non-linear crystals, etc

        • Coating technologies – e-beam, ion assisted, IBS, fluorides vs. oxides

      • Design of optical bench layouts that will drive experiments on light/matter interaction and optical damage studies.

        • Using high power lasers safely, M2 Measurement, Scatter, reflection, wavefront, to mention a few of the common layout features.

      • Develop software for running/controlling the benches, as well as for data collection.

      • Analysis, interpretation and presentation of data using physics principles to help drive development roadmaps

        • Mathematical modelling of physics and engineering systems

      • Formally presenting summaries of analytical work, test results and physics models

      Skills

      • Good interpersonal skills, and ability to develop physical models and convey technical matter, both written and orally

      • Can work on complex questions and analysis where a deep evaluation will provide technical advantage

      • Proactive and able to identify potential issues, and brings potential solutions

      • Ready to become the internally recognized subject matter expert on these complex physics matters.

      • Proficient in the following Software: Matlab, LabView, Zemax, Comsol, or equivalent software

      Preferred Experience

      • PhD in physics, materials science, optics or related with 5+ years of experience, or Masters Degree with 7+ years of experience.

      Minimum Qualifications

      Doctorate (Academic) or work experience of 0-1 years , Master's Level Degree or work experience of 2- years , Bachelor's Level Degree or work experience of 4-5 years
