Drake's Flyaway
Located in SFO's New Harvey Milk Terminal 1A
A food server is responsible for the serving of food and beverages. They set up the restaurant with equipment and supplies and also set up the dining tables for food service. They also close down the dining room at the end of service, properly cleaning and storing items. Servers are responsible for meeting and exceeding guests service related needs to insure they have a quality experience. Servers must be knowledge about menu items and must learn and follow their location’s “Standards of Service.”
Responsibilities
These are essential functions and the percentages are estimates only.70% - Remain on floor serving guests and bussing and setting tables in your designated section10% - complete opening and closing side work. Maintain dining room organization, cleanliness and the availability of service-related goods15% - properly process guest checks and cash handling procedures5% -assist host with greeting guests and answering phoneOTHER:Maintain regular and prompt attendance in conformation with company standards and policies. Employees with irregular attendance may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Consistent time and attendance is essential to the successful operation of the department.
Maintain a professional demeanor with co-workers and guests at all times. Maintain a professional and hygienic appearance at all times. Report to work in a clean and complete uniform.Due to the seasonal nature of the restaurant industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to accommodate the business needs of the restaurant.
Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with the SF Foodways’ rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of its business. Employees who violate these rules and regulations may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY:Individual must posses the following knowledge, skills and abilities and must be able to demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the position.1. Knowledge of table settings and service ware2. Ability to understand verbal English, i.e. guest requests and questions3. Ability to write and read English4. Ability to great and seat customers5. Ability to handle guests requests6. Ability to answer the phone in a professional manner7. Knowledge of basic food service8. Ability to use a POS system9. Ability to handle, count and balance cash receipts.10. Ability to maintain a “bank” for making change and collecting cash payments11. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:1. In addition to performing the essential functions, this position may be required to perform any combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function solely at the discretion of the department manager, which may be based upon the particular requirements of that day.2. Perform general cleaning tasks using standard, approved cleaning products as assigned by the manager.3. Folding napkins for other meal periods to maintain adequate supplies.4. Perform any and all other duties asked of you related to the operation of the restaurant. Managers will not ask you to perform functions inappropriate to your job capacity. Should you feel you are asked to something inappropriate, you should speak with your general manager. Rule of thumb is to always follow the directives of the manager on duty.
QUALIFICATIONS:• Any combination of education, training and work experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.• Successfully pass an extensive 10-year criminal background check conducted by the FBI.• Successfully pass computerized employment testing and in-person interview.
EXPERIENCE:Six months experience as a server in a high volume full service establishment
