      About the Position: This position is located at Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Hospital. Room OL105 Linen Service Office 0400-1230. Monday - Saturday with Thursday off.

      Duties


      • Pick up soiled linen prior to transfer to laundry and upon return from laundry.
      • Determines which items will be repaired or salvaged and prepares/sorts IAW prescribed procedures. Coordinates shipping of salvaged items.
      • Incumbent schedules semi-annual inventories of all hospital linen used in a patient care environment.
      • Assists the representatives from each linen using area in the identification and inventory requirements throughout the hospital.
      • Maintains the Linen Storage Area records of receipt and issue of all linen supplies.
      • Insures that records are maintained of linen sent to and returned from laundry, signs for same upon receipt
      • Assembles turn-in items, i.e., equipment to be salvaged/repaired.

      Requirements


      • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
      • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
      • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
      • This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
      • This position has been designated ?Mission Essential?. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
      • This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
      • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds is required.

      There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
      Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Linen Service Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. Perform common work related operations to include receipt, storage, alteration, issue and shipment of linen items; analyzing instructions received to ensure all personnel; schedules semi-annual inventories of all hospital linen used in patient care environment; oversee the coordinating of daily transportation procedures for pick up/delivery of linen to and from laundry utilizing a motor vehicle and materials and equipment are available at the work site; and assuring equipment are utilized properly - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

      • PHYSICAL EFFORT: Incumbent bends, stands, stoops and moves arms in handling bundles of linen,packages, or pushing carts which require handling of weight up to 200 pounds and picking upbundles of weight of approximately 25 pounds.
      • WORKING CONDITIONS: The majority of the work is performed inside a well ventilated, lighted and heated area. May be required to ride in vehicles in clement/inclement weather. Exposed to dirt,dust, and possibility of physical injury (e.g., cuts, scrapes, bruises).
