LIT Team Member - 2 Positions Available
Valley Academy
Annual Stipend: $1,834*Stipends will be prorated on availability to fulfill all commitments
DESCRIPTION: Work under the direction of the building principal. Meeting times are flexible and
will be determined by the building principal, but the overall time commitment for members
should be approximately 53 hours per year (based on the possibility of 2 hours per month for 11
months and additional time at the beginning and the end of the school year as well as additional
time for “homework”). Principals may choose to designate meetings as either “Learning &
Teaching related” or “Operations Related” in order to maintain a consistent focus within a
particular meeting. May make strategic and operational decisions at the building level under the
direction of the principal. Major responsibilities include but are not limited to: Engaging in the
Professional Learning Community framework and continuous improvement process to grow a
school wide focus on instruction, learning, collaboration and results. Collaborating on the
creation, communication, implementation and monitoring of a yearly School Improvement Plan
to ensure alignment with and fulfillment of the WSD Strategic Plan and Big 6 Student Outcomes.
Addressing class mix issues. Analyzing building data (instructional, behavioral, attendance) tosupport teams in making instructional and/or program decisions. Plan and Facilitate School-
Directed Learning Improvement Day activities. Addressing Safety and Environment issues andimplementation of district initiatives to ensure alignment with program design and instructional
processes. Reviewing requests and allocating LIT funds based on building priorities. Gathering
and sharing feedback from department/content or PLC teams to the LIT team. Individual
responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Attending all Team Leader trainings. Attending
all meetings or providing for a substitute in absence. Complete LIT “homework” such as reading
journals, articles, and gathering feedback from constituents. Establish and communicate a
process to seek feedback from the assigned constituency. Facilitate effective PLC meetings by:
Nurturing your team’s culture of trust and interdependency. Focusing your team on the 4 PLC
questions. Uphold team norms. Create agendas. Model a belief in student ability. Engage in the
continuous improvement process to improve student learning. Facilitate the organization and
maintenance of instructional unit plans. Leading data protocols. Surfacing “best practices”
through leading collaborative discussion. Developing goals for student learning. Identifying and
communicating professional development needs. Collaborate with the principal and other team
leaders to support high-performing teams by: Sharing out grade level progress toward meeting
goals. Partner with administrators to support a positive and productive team culture. Partner
with the Horizontal Team and District Office Team to be a representative that helps build end of
unit common formative assessments for the grade level horizontal teams. Other related duties
as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Certificated member of Valley Academy. Good communicator and
facilitator. Effective at getting student results. Strong planning and organizational skills. Able to
work well with others. Desire to continually learn. Dedicated to constant improvement.
