Litigation Counsel or Senior Litigation Counsel (Two Positions)
Enforcement
This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced litigation counsel or senior litigation counsel to join the BCSC’s Litigation Branch. As one of the successful candidates, you will:
· initiate and conduct enforcement proceedings before the BCSC;
· represent BCSC staff in all levels of court;
· work closely with other litigation counsel and investigation staff in preparing and presenting cases;
· make recommendations and provide enforcement related legal opinions based on BCSC priorities and objectives ; and
· liaise with other securities regulators and law enforcement agencies.
These positions act both independently and in conjunction with other litigation counsel and senior litigation counsel, and report directly to the Manager of Litigation and Director of Enforcement.
You are a dedicated legal professional with membership in the Law Society of British Columbia and you have a minimum of three years of relevant litigation experience for the litigation counsel position, or a minimum of ten years of experience for the senior litigation counsel position. Experience in conducting administrative litigation or criminal prosecutions is a definite asset. You will be required to work in a team environment and have a comprehensive understanding of administrative law. Superior analytical, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, complete your qualifications.

Salary Range:
The salary range for Litigation Counsel (generally up to 10 years of legal counsel experience) is $113,444 (minimum) - $151,014 (midpoint) - $188,585 (maximum).
The salary range for Senior Litigation Counsel (generally 10+ years of legal counsel experience) is $135,479 (minimum) - $175,947 (midpoint) - $216,414 (maximum).
The starting salary for this position will be determined considering the successful candidate’s relevant experience and education, salaries of other employees in the same salary range, market conditions and other relevant factors. Starting salaries are normally below the salary band midpoint.
