Edit translated scripts and materials for proper spelling, grammar, style, and accuracy.
Work with translators to make regional and culturally specific ideas comprehensible to audiences in the target language.
Assist with creating and managing term lists and ensure appropriate implementation and consistency within projects.
Work with localization team to establish English character voice and narrative tone to appropriately reflect original artist’s intent.
Ensure all translated material adheres to relevant style guides for publishing.
Edit materials to be published by other departments for spelling, grammar, style, and accuracy.
Update project databases with relevant information to maintain a consistent reference for localized titles.
Bachelor’s degree with a focus on English , Linguistic s , Communications , or equivalent experience .
A minimum of 3 years localization - related product development experience required .
Passion for anime and gaming .
S trong organizational and communication skills .
Professional familiarity with Microsoft Office and knowledge of JIRA .
Understanding of game development cycles and localization work flow .
Excellent oral and written communication skills .
Self-motivated with an abili ty to work under tight deadlines .
Willing and able to travel internationally as needed .
Team-oriented , while also able to work independently as well as with other departments and regions .
Working knowledge of audio, graphic, and movie file types and applications
Demonstr ated writing and technical editing proficiency .
Familiarity with modern style guides and publication manuals .

POSITION SUMMARY
Aniplex of America (a subsidiary of Sony Music Japan) is seeking a l ocalization e ditor to join its team located in Santa Monica, CA. The localization editor is a key part of the translation and localization process. Editors are given material translated from Japanese to English and are expected to edit the script text to fit character voices, tone of the IP, and appropriate style for publication. Localization editors may also be asked to assist with proofreading other material for release.
The position has a HYBRID schedule. Employees are expected to work onsite in the Santa Monica office at least 2 days per week.

The target annualized base salary range for this position is $50,000 – 60,000 . The individual will be paid hourly and eligible for overtime. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for . The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
