      Locum Consultant Anaesthetist

      10.66PA plus 1.5PA for on-calls

      Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust are looking for an enthusiastic, forward-thinking Locum Consultant Anaesthetist. The successful candidate is expected to attain CCT within 6 months of the interview date or be included on the Specialist Register. The successful candidate will work alongside the existing team to help grow, develop,and innovate the service to meet modern standards of care.

      The successful candidate will join a team of highly dedicated medical, nursing and other professionals committed to providing a high quality service to our patients with the brand new Maternity Theatre facilities.

      Main duties of the job

      • You will participate in a 1:10 Consultant of the week model, including prospective cover covering emergency theatres.

      • You will also participate in a 1:4 weekend elective list
      • You will join a team of 22 Consultants with several Specialists and Specialty Doctors supporting all general services of the hospital including a busy Accident and Emergency department, Theatres covering Maternity, Trauma, Gynecology and ENT.

      • On-call shifts provide non-residential cover of Obstetrics and emergency theatres, supervising a dedicated resident anaesthetist.

      • Lead Assessments of the deteriorating patient for emergency admission to the Intensive Care Unit.

      • Lead the team in managing pre and post operative theatre admissions.

      • Participate in clinical audit, governance and quality improvement.

      • Demonstrate evidence-based practice where appropriate.

      • Undertake and participate in the appraisal process and job planning.

      • Satisfy the criteria for revalidation.

      • Contribute to service development in areas of special interest and expertise.

      • Actively participate in continuing medical education.

      • Undertake personal appraisal and job-planning as part of revalidation.

      • Maintain all mandatory training requirements.

      • Evidence of leading and participating in PROMPT training or equivalent multidisciplinary obstetric emergency simulation.

      • Involvement in governance activities, including audits, incident reviews, and quality improvement projects related to obstetric care.

      • MB ChB/BS or EEA equivalent
      • FRCA or other appropriate equivalent
      • Eligible for CCT in Anaesthesia
