      Job summary

      This is a new post which will share the provision of general haematology services for the Trust. The appointee will be employed by the Trust and will be based at Maidstone Hospital with some potential scope for clinics at Tunbridge Wells. Clinical Haematology is within the Cancer & Haematology Directorate, forming an integral part of the Kent and Medway Cancer Network. All tumour sites across the Network have been peer-reviewed and are compliant with national standards.

      Part time hours will be considered with mock job plan available on request.

      Main duties of the job

      To provide a high standard of care to any patient for whom you have clinical responsibility. This will include any patients referred to you and cared for you personally or by members of your team and. in addition, any patients of consultant colleagues when you are covering oncall or annual leave.

      The role will include participation in clinical and other service activities and developments with the aim to ensuring a high standard of patient care. Also working in close co-operation with other medical, professional and managerial colleagues, both within and outside the speciality, to provide high quality healthcare to the Trust's patients and to make a contribution to future thinking about the Trust's strategic direction.

      Essential

      • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
      • Full and specialist GMC registration
      • CCT (UK trained) or equivalent if trained abroad
      • MRCP of evidence of equivalent qualification
      • FRCPath (UK) or evidence of equivalent qualifications

      Desirable

      • PhD/MSc in Haematology

      Clinical Skills

      Essential

      • Wide experience in all aspects of haematology
      • Experience of MDT working at senior level
      • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients at consultant level
