Job summary
Nightingale Valley Practice (NVP) is seeking a locum General Practitioner to join our friendly and supportive team in Brislington, Bristol.
We are looking for a locum GP to provide 6 sessions per week, ideally spread across 3 days. The role will involve a mix of clinical consultations, admin time, and participation in our collaborative practice environment.
Main duties of the job
You will be dealing with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting and ensuring the highest standards of care for all patients.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF A SALARIED GP AT NVP
Patient Care - Are you Caring and Effective?
In accordance with the Practice session timetable, you will be available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery and telephone consultations ( including a fair share of the extended hours rota), visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with lab results, queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion.
Take the lead role of responsible duty doctor as part of a rota.
Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
Assess the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
Prescribe in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
Support other staff such as GP trainees, PCN allied staff, ANPs and nurses with clinical queries
Participate in proportionally shared enhanced Access hours (to be discussed) along with the other clinicians within the business. This could be Early starts, late working or occasional Saturday working.
Governance and Risk Management - Are you/we Safe?
Represent the practice at CQC and NHS/CCG quality monitoring inspections
Ensure compliance with all relevant company, local and national guidelines and legislation
Adhere to safeguarding requirements and deal appropriately with complaints, incidents and alerts using company systems and policies
Adhere to all company clinical governance policies
Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
Collect data for audit purposes and for compliance with QOF requirements
Alert other team members to issues of quality and risk.
Reflect and assess own and team performance.
Work effectively with other agencies to meet patients needs in a person centred way.

Leadership and Development - Are we Well-Led as a practice?
Lead on clinical areas and projects to develop the practice and enhance offerings to patients operationally and strategically.
Mentor and provide clinical supervision for a multi-disciplinary team, this may include Salaried GPs, Nursing and Administrative teams

Commit to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice
Meet CPD requirements and keep personal, mandatory and/or organisational training up to date, including any training programme implemented by the Practice as part of this employment
Assess own performance and take accountability for own actions, either directly or under supervision.
Operational Delivery - Are we Responsive?
Support the practice in achieving contractual targets by leading on areas and mentoring staff who also lead on areas
Support the practice operations teams to ensure that the practice stays within budget
Participate and lead in opportunities for new or expanding services at the surgery to support the practice development plan.
Make suggestions and act on ways to improve and enhance the team or practices performance using own, colleagues or patient feedback to promote You Said, We Listened, We Took Action
Engagement - Is everyone working for the same outcomes?
Maintain mutually beneficial working relationships with all stakeholders, for example NHSE, CCG, CQC, Local Authorities, LMC etc.
