Job Description

- Understanding and implementation of lifting regulations (LOLER) and safe systems of work.
- Liaising with Lifting and Structural TA / Onshore LOLER support where an engineered solution is required to facilitate a specific lifting operation, where a complex lift needs to be performed, or where lifting from uncertified lifting point(s) is required
- Ensuring that all personnel involved in lifting operations understand the requirements of the LOLER Regulations.
- Coaching and mentoring of onsite lifting personnel and the development of risk assessments for lifting operations.
- Facilitating and supervising complicated and complex lifting operations and maintaining portable lifting equipment inventory levels in support of lifting activities.
- Ensuring that all lifting equipment is sourced from the appointed supplier of lifting equipment.
- Ensuring that all lifting operations performed onsite are completed in accordance with this procedure and reviewing and approving all site lift plans and supporting risk assessments.
- Working safely in accordance with company policies, procedures, and site standing instructions.
- Participating in and delivering pre-lift toolbox talks and controlling lifting operations in accordance with this procedure.
- Checking the adequacy of lifting plans, ensuring that the classification of lift is correct and stopping and reporting any unsafe practices or actions
- Requesting and holding 3rd party vendor equipment certification when on board the installation and 3rd party personnel are competent to carry out lifting operations. Proof of competency may be required.
- Reviewing and endorsing third-party lift plans and risk assessments.
- Ensuring transit equipment is certified prior to lifting while also ensuring that transit equipment is visually inspected prior to back loading in accordance with UKOOA guidelines.
- Ensuring portable lifting equipment operator instructions are available and that per-sue inspections are performed.
- Observe lifting procedures and learn from examples
- Ensure that all relevant requirements are implemented
- Restrict access to the area of operation to authorised personnel only
- Ascertain or confirm the weight of load in within the capacity of the lifting appliances and accessories (managed at the planning stage and captured in the lifting plan)
- Select, set up and safely use lifting equipment in accordance with the Lift Plan
- Ensure lifting equipment and loads are properly inspected before use
- Ensure that all lifting equipment is secure, located correctly and has freedom of movement
- Ensure that slings are not used at an angle in excess of the company's stated maximum
- Ensure route to be travelled is clear and landing area is suitable
- Identify or remove potential snagging points
- Assume a safe position during lifting operations and be aware of the position of others
- Use lifting appliances and accessories correctly
- Continuously monitor the lifting operation
- Remain in communication with all parties at all times
- Ensure tag lines are used safely
- Ensure equipment is de-rigged, inspected, stored or quarantined correctly
- Health & Safety:
- Ensure all work is conducted in full compliance with Ithaca’s HS&E policy, procedures and Safety Management System
- Be familiar with and follow the Ithaca Golden Rules for Health and Safety at all times
- Comply with all relevant PFM HS&E policies and procedures, where appropriate
- Actively participate in and support all Ithaca and PFM Safety and Environmental plans, initiatives, and improvements
- Carry out all activities in accordance with ISSOW, including the following:
- Comprehensive and detailed Risk Assessments and Toolbox Talks
- Stop and re-asses any job where change is identified
- Report all accidents and incidents
- Carry out Emergency Response duties in accordance with Ithaca’s requirements
- Trade certification

- Adhere to the company competency framework.
- Experience:
- Relevant experience in either onshore or offshore oil and gas industry or candidates with significant experience in similar onshore Hazardous Industries such as continuous processes petrochemical, nuclear or power generation
- The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role and be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and apply it in the workplace
- Previous experience in the use of SAP or similar CMMS is preferred.
