      Position Description

      POSITION TITLE: Long Term Substitute - Art Teacher

      QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer proper state certification with an endorsement in Visual Arts.

      REPORTS TO: Principal and/or other Supervisor

      Job Responsibilities:

      • Responsible for acquiring and managing art supplies.
      • Integrate art instruction with other subjects, such as math, science, geography and language arts.
      • Demonstrate techniques in activities such as drawing and painting.
      • Prepare lesson plans.
      • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and performing.
      • Instruction in accordance with state curriculum.
      • Creative, interactive and engaging teacher methods.
      • Effectively implement district initiatives.
      • Effectively collaborate with department and grade level teachers.
      • Diagnose and evaluate student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner and follow up with constructive, supportive feedback.
      • Ability to work well with both students, colleagues, and parents.
      • Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
      • Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
      • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
      • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
      • Serve on committees as assigned.
      • Remain current on instructional practices in education. (e.g. instructional technology)
