Job Description

Performs detailed review of account information, such as loss drivers, previous loss control recommendations, underwriting file, etc.
Completes on-site or virtual loss control surveys of current and prospective policyholders’ operations with basic understanding of exposures and controls.
Prepares loss control reports for underwriting about identified exposures, such as property, commercial auto, liability, and workers’ compensation for review by Loss Control leader.
Provides explanation of business operations, hazards and controls associated with coverages.
Completes loss control training curriculum. Learns policy coverages, survey questions to ask current and prospective policyholders, appropriate communication styles and helpful information for assessing risk.
Reviews feedback on the quality of reports from manager and incorporates changes into subsequent reports.
Consults with policyholders to understand their service needs and concerns. Customizes and provides basic services to address loss drivers and exposures while meeting insureds’ needs and documents in a service report.
Communicates loss control services available to prospective accounts, policyholders, and agents.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in safety, engineering, industrial safety, fire protection, or related field or equivalent relevant experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
The knowledge, skills, and abilities below are required for the job unless labelled as preferred:
Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of industrial, construction, fire, and commercial automotive safety
Knowledge of various nationally recognized standards and codes, including OSHA, DOT and NFPA
Ability to understand and evaluate risk
Ability to identify and visualize potential loss exposures
Good problem-solving skills
Strong customer service skills
Ability to work effectively with others, as well as independently
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
Good verbal and written communication skills, including documentation skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Travel required; a valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards required if driving
