- Monitor store premises, including entry/exit points, aisles, and backrooms, using surveillance systems, cameras, and physical patrols to prevent theft and identify suspicious activities.
- Conduct regular audits of inventory to detect discrepancies and prevent shrinkage.
- Respond to theft-related incidents, including apprehending shoplifters, preparing incident reports, and collaborating with law enforcement as necessary.
- Ensure store safety policies and procedures are followed, addressing potential hazards and unsafe conditions in the store environment.
- Assist in emergency response protocols, including evacuations, medical incidents, and other safety-related events.
- Support training programs for store associates on asset protection best practices and procedures.
- Investigate internal and external theft, fraud, or misconduct, working with store management and law enforcement to resolve incidents.
- Prepare detailed reports for any theft, security incidents, or violations of store policies and procedures.
- Analyze surveillance footage and physical evidence to support investigations.
- Greet and interact with customers in a professional and friendly manner, while maintaining a vigilant eye for potential security risks.
- Work collaboratively with store associates and management to create a positive and secure shopping experience for customers.
- Provide support and guidance to team members regarding asset protection policies and safety procedures.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, including but not limited to loss prevention, safety procedures, and ethical standards.
- Help maintain confidentiality and professionalism during investigations and when handling sensitive information.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Additional certifications in security or loss prevention (e.g., Certified Protection Professional, Certified Loss Prevention Specialist) are a plus.
- Previous experience in asset protection, loss prevention, retail security, or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to perform surveillance duties and patrol the store and parking lot.
- Must be willing and physically capable of apprehending theft suspects.
- Must be able to perform the following physical activities: climbing (limited), balancing (limited), stooping, crouching, reaching, prolonged standing, walking long distances, running, pushing, lifting, and speaking without impediment (easily understood).
- Good hearing and vision is required.
- Strong observational skills with the ability to identify potential security risks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic knowledge of security equipment, CCTV systems, and theft prevention techniques.
- Ability to remain calm and make decisions in stressful situations.
- Detail-oriented and proficient in reporting and documentation.
- Retail store environment with exposure to customers, associates, and various departments.
- Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on store hours.
- May be required to work during special events, promotions, or high-traffic periods.

As a Loss Prevention Associate, you will be responsible for maintaining a secure store environment, preventing theft, and protecting company assets. This role requires proactive monitoring, investigation of suspicious activities, and ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations. You will work closely with store associates, management, and law enforcement to minimize loss and uphold a safe shopping environment for both customers and employees.
