      Job Title: Lower School PE Teacher

      Reports to: Lower School Principal

CCS has been serving Christian families in the Chattanooga area since 1970 and currently enrolls 1,450+ students in the Lower School (Preschool -5), Middle School (6-8), and High School (9-12).       POSITION OVERVIEW: Plans lessons for PreSchool to 5th Grade PE classes and is capable of coaching at least one Upper School sport.


      ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

      1. Works with lower school students in a variety of settings.
      2. Leads learning in Physical Education taking into account gross motor developmental milestones.
      3. Thinks creatively and works with all staff to help students grow in coordinated movement development.
      4. Is positive and enthusiastic with all students
      5. Understands and works with a variety of student ability levels.
      6. Helps with positive behavior management strategies for all students.
      7. Maintains confidentiality for students at CCS.
      8. Helps with administrative duties as needed related to budget for the department.
      9. Communicates clearly through speaking and writing.
      10. Collaborates with other Lower School PE staff to create lesson plans.
      11. Maintains current gradebook with quantitative and qualitative data.
      12. Other job duties as assigned.
      13. Coaches at least one Upper School sport.

      Qualifications


      QUALIFICATIONS

      • Personal faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to the mission of Chattanooga Christian School.
      • A Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Physical Education or a related discipline is required. A current Tennessee Teaching license or the ability to transfer a license from another state to a TN License in Physical Education or a related endorsement is required. (419, Health & Wellness K-12)
      • Adept at using classroom technology
      • Ability and flexibility to be trained in a variety of subject areas.
      • Ability to work with students with disabilities in inclusion settings.
      • Character, call, and availability to fulfill the needs of the job description.
      • Highly motivated and able to work collaboratively.
      • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
      • Ability to problem-solve and think creatively.
      • Ability to exercise discretion and utmost professionalism in confidential and sensitive student matters.

      PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

      • Requires vision to read small print.
      • Requires the mobility to stand, stoop, reach and bend. Requires mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects.
      • Requires the ability to stand for extended periods.
      • Requires the ability to walk long distances.
      • Requires lifting, pushing, and/or pulling which does not exceed twenty-five pounds and is an infrequent aspect of the job.
      • Is subject to normal inside and outside environmental conditions.
      • Mental acuity to perform the essential functions of this position.
      • This is a role that requires equal amounts of standing/walking and sitting at a desk for the majority of the school day.
      • The employee may need to physically support students with physical disabilities and should be able to assist a student getting in and out of a chair.
