- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in a related engineering discipline (program completion by the spring of current year or within the last five (5) years) in one of the following fields:
- Civil Engineering with a focus on Transportation or a related field.
- Civil Engineering with a focus on highway geometrics design or a related field.
- Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Membership as an Engineer-in-Training with EGBC within thirty (30) days of start date.
- Must be immediately eligible to work in Canada.
- Relevant educational specialization and/or coursework; and/or,
- Related experiential learning/training (e.g. practicums/placements, co-ops, volunteer work, work experience, etc.).
- Valid Canadian Driver’s Licence; a valid BC Class 5 or 7 Driver’s Licence is required within thirty (30) days of start date.
- You must be willing and able to relocate to other geographical locations throughout the province during your status as an EIT based on organizational requirements. The Ministry will decide the EIT final location placement prior to, or upon, the person obtaining their P.Eng. based on operational requirements.
- As an EIT, you are required to become a Registered Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists BC at the earliest opportunity.
- Depending on the position, must be willing and able to drive and travel in all weather conditions, which can include occasional hazardous working conditions/locations.
- Depending on the position, must be willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions during periods of inclement weather and/or rough terrain, including ascending or descending structures; working in active constructions sites, rough terrain, around traffic and construction equipment.
- Depending on the position, must be willing and able to work outside of normal business hours as well as some public speaking.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure’s EIT/GIT program provides the opportunity to gain applied technical experience throughout British Columbia by moving you through multiple rotations in various locations over the course of the program. This dynamic range of experience will provide you with an opportunity to train, develop and grow professionally through challenging work assignments under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.). Throughout your participation in the program, you will be assigned experienced professional engineering mentors who will be there to support and guide you through your development.

About these Positions:

These opportunities apply to recent graduates (within the last (five) 5 years or those about to graduate in Spring 2024) with a Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering, with a focus on highway geometrics, traffic, planning and electrical disciplines.
We are currently recruiting for multiple, permanent, full time EIT positions in various locations across BC.
Current vacancies may be performed in Coquitlam (this location is only available for Electrical Engineers), Kamloops, Prince George or Victoria; other locations may be considered, subject to Ministry operational requirements.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
Positions are under implemented at the Licensed Science Officer (LSO) 1B classification. Upon completion of the EIT program, the full working level classification is LSO ENG 3.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
