Job Description: The Visual Arts teacher will need to be responsible for organizing and maintaining a safe classroom environment ensuring the curriculum is aligned with the Public Schools of Brookline K-8 Visual Arts Learning Expectations. Duties include but are not limited to: Creating developmentally appropriate challenges, instruction, and processes that require strong habits of mind, support diverse learning styles, and provide opportunities for students to work independently and collaboratively Requirements Qualifications: Highly qualified visual arts educator with strong studio skills Well-developed understanding of the art-making processes, qualities, and techniques to teach in a K-8 elementary visual arts program Thorough knowledge of how diverse learners acquire and develop an understanding of the visual arts Ability to reflect on personal learning through the analysis of one’s teaching practice, student learning data, and the teaching practices of others Ability to be open to constructive critique of supervisors, administrators, and colleagues Ability to collaborate with all faculty Bachelor’s Degree DESE certification in Visual Arts, K-8 Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree Experience teaching Studio Habits of Mind The Public Schools of Brookline is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute through their teaching or practice to the diversity and excellence of the PSB community.
