- Share in our startup DNA and take part in a dynamic team focused on solving challenging problems to enable new and exciting applications.
- Research, develop and implement new algorithms to prototype and validate commercial applications of Sony sensors such as event-based and RGB cameras, time of flight sensors or a combination thereof for products like smartphones, robots, AR/VR devices, industrial sensors, etc.
- Help improving our processes, software frameworks and tools
- Collaborate closely with our computer vision, AI and hardware experts for best system performance and help develop the sensors of the future
- Develop deep insights into imaging sensors and how the world can be understood through photons
- Work in a multi-cultural environment that spans engineering sites in Japan, Europe, and North America across the Sony Group
- Actively shape our workplace and culture by bringing your own personality to the team and adding your own touch
- MSc or PhD in Computer Science or similar field like Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, … or surprise us with a background that we did not think of yet!
- Experience with Computer Vision, Machine Learning and/or Deep Learning algorithms
Motivation to find the simplest solution for a given objective
- The courage to put your ideas to the test without being afraid of failure
- Ability to optimize priorities based on company-wide objectives
- Good communication skills, fluency in English
- Experience with Python or C++
- The ambition to continuously learn and develop yourself
- Practical e xperience with modern software development methodologies and principles (Design principles and patterns or processes such as CICD and MLOps )
- Experience with various sensing modalities such as conventional CMOS cameras , event-based cameras , LIDAR, ToF , IMU, structured light etc.
- Experience in technology transfer , bringing cutting edge technology to a market, be it through experience in a startup or a corporate R&D department

Sony Advanced Visual Sensing (AVS) is a research and development center of Sony Semiconductor Solutions based in Zurich, Switzerland and a former spin-off of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) and the University of Zurich . We develop novel computer vision algorithms, vision sensors and sensing systems based on our world-leading sensing expertise , including event-based cameras, CMOS cameras and depth sensors.
