Job Description
- Req#: 793564000
- Assemble, install, maintain, and repair all types of machinery such as printing and bindery equipment, and industrial trucks.
- Responsible for welding, cutting, and brazing of different metals.
- Set up and operate machine shop equipment (i.e., lathes, milling machines and grinders) to fabricate parts for repairs to production and other related machinery and equipment.
- Perform bench work such as filing, scraping and use of other hand tools for fitting and assembling machine parts from metal stock.
- Perform all periodic Preventative Maintenance (PM) routine (PM) as assigned by management.

- Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
- Selectee must undergo a background investigation for a Non-Critical Sensitive Moderate Risk background investigation.
- Physical Effort: Duties may require prolonged standing, walking, stooping, bending, and reaching. An extensive amount of hand, wrist, and arm movements is involved.
- Physical Effort: Frequent lifting is required for objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Incumbent is sometimes required to lift and move items weighing in excess of 50 pounds with the assistance of weight handling equipment or other workers.
- Working Conditions: Duties are performed inside where there is exposure to flying metal chips, abrasive particles, noise, dirt, coolants, lubricants, and abrasive compounds.
- Working Conditions: There is danger to fingers, hands, and other parts of the body from cutting tools, grinding wheels, rotating pieces, and moving parts of machines.
- Working Conditions: Safety protection is required in all areas of the plant. Some work assignments can be outdoors in all weather conditions.

To qualify for the Machinist, KJ -3414-00, you must meet the following requirements:
Applicants must meet the following Screen-Out element: Job Element #1: to be considered eligible for the position, applicants must have experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to independently perform the duties typically required of this position. Examples of experience include experience related to analyze interrelated dimensions or complex configuration problems and determine effective solutions; troubleshoot on a wide range of machines and determine repair processes in conjunction with appropriate engineering and technical authority; assemble, install, maintain and repair a variety of printing, binding and related machinery and equipment (i.e. printing and bindery, industrial trucks, power plant and air conditioning machinery); make independent interpretations of drawings and specifications that are lacking in dimensions, tolerances and types of fits and finishes, and make repairs.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
