This position is in Shop 1. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge/experience in repair of steam turbine components. Successful completion of all PSS weld certifications will be required.
Requirements
Selected Candidates must meet all TVA requirements listed in PQI.02, PQI.03, PQI.04, PQI.07, PQI.08 & PQI.12 or successfully pass all required testing listed in the PQI’s. Additionally, after all testing is completed successfully the Candidates will be required to successfully pass a proficiency test.
Duties
The major portion of duties will involve general welding repairs to steam turbines, governors, condensers, air ejectors, pumps, pulverizers, fans, heaters, evaporators, coal-handling equipment, traveling water screens, water wheels, cranes, and other pertinent equipment pertaining to the plants. This work will consist of all types of welding with electric welder and cutting with oxygen-acetylene torch, dismantling, and assembling of equipment, the removal of parts, and the repair of tools.
Qualifications
Should have at least four years’ experience on mechanical maintenance and must be capable of performing welding in such manner as to meet approved welding standards.
Supervision Recieved
Under the general supervision of the Power Plant Maintenance Supervisor (Mechanical) and the direct supervision of the Machinist Foreman, who assigns and checks work during progress and checks completed work for proper performance.
Supervision Over Others
Will supervise the work of one or more helpers or apprentices.
