Working closely with several senior analysts in Asia and globally, you’ll exercise your abilities to contribute to thematic research reports and focus on forecasting economic variables across Emerging Asia.You’ll gain a sound understanding of economic forces that influence global markets. Day-to-day, you could be involved in a wide range of activities, including:Diving deep into the fundamentals of key markets and economies, you will:• work with senior economists on learning macro-economic forecasting, and thematic research on current and emerging policy issues.• work on custom projects and conduct empirical studies using public databases and Barclays’ proprietary data, models and analytics• gain experience on the publication process of Barclays Research periodicals and learn the art of thematic research writing• learn how we form the firm’s macro outlook on the global economy• interact with sales, trading desks and other research groups.To be considered for this program, you must:• currently be pursuing an undergraduate degree in a technical discipline such as Economics, Econometrics, or Public Policy with an anticipated graduation date between December 2024 – June 2025.Ideally, you would also have:• a 3.2 GPA or above• resourcefulness, team-orientation, enthusiasm and an entrepreneurial spirit, demonstrated through participation in extracurricular activities• an interest in macroeconomics, financial markets, and international economics• prior experience in empirical methods/econometrics• strong quantitative skills, including statistics and time series analysis• language skills i.e. knowledge of an additional language other than English would be highly appreciated• a team mentality, with the ability to think creatively and work with senior analysts• boundless energy and curiosity about how the world works.It is the policy of Barclays to ensure equal employment opportunity without discrimination or harassment on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, alienage or citizenship status, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital or domestic/civil partnership status, disability, protected veteran status, genetic information, or any other basis protected by law.About the company
