      Job Overview

      The Macy’s Supply Chain Internship Program offers exposure to various functional areas within Supply Chain Operations. These areas include transportation and logistics, reverse logistics and vendor collaboration, program management, customer delivery, engineering and automation, network strategy and fulfillment, and operations. The Supply Chain Operations team oversees the development and performance of our end-to-end supply chain network. This includes optimizing the flow of products from our domestic and international suppliers through our fulfillment and store delivery centers to our stores and customers.

      The Supply Chain Interns will engage in cross-functional, high-impact projects aimed at process design, vendor standards, network performance, speed to customer, and automation.

      Macy’s Summer Internship Program offers hands-on experience and a deep understanding of a core business function in retail. Interns play a pivotal role in teams and contribute new ideas directly impacting the business. They are exposed to Macy’s culture through interactions with senior leaders, participation in professional development workshops, and networking opportunities. The program may also lead to full-time opportunities with Macy’s through our early careers program after graduation.

      This internship is on-site, working within one of our Distribution/Fulfillment facilities.

      What You Will Do

      • Engage in professional development through hands-on learning, structured workshops, and collaborative projects.
      • Foster relationships with fellow interns, business leaders, and team members.
      • Perform day-to-day allocation activities and provide support for replenishment activities.
      • Develop an understanding of financial performance metrics and assortment planning.
      • Conduct analysis to support inventory strategy, such as hold & flow and multiple shipments.
      • Utilize analytic tools to enhance network performance and improve customer outcomes.
      • Create metrics and key performance indicators to support recommendations.
      • Identify opportunities for enterprise improvement in collaboration with fellow interns.
      • Demonstrate strong program management skills to oversee the entire lifecycle of projects.
      • Acquire experience in utilizing best-in-class technology, including order management, transportation management, and warehouse management systems.
      • Display the ability to work within deadlines, both independently and as part of a team.
      • Ensure regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.

      Skills You Will Need

      Analytical Abilities: Conduct thorough analysis to support inventory strategy, such as hold & flow and multiple shipments, utilizing analytic tools to enhance network performance and improve customer outcomes.

      Communication Skills: Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence others, along with strong storytelling and presentation abilities.

      Mathematical and Analytical Skills: Demonstrate excellent mathematical skills and the ability to apply concepts of profitability and statistical inference to practical situations.

      Problem-Solving Abilities: Exhibit strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and apply strategies to solve complex challenges.

      Multitasking and Collaboration: Ability to multitask and collaborate cross-functionally with multiple internal and external business partners in a fast-paced environment.

      Attention to Detail: Possess strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all tasks and deliverables.

      Process Improvement: Ability to streamline processes and identify opportunities for efficiency gains within the organization.

      Quick Information Processing: High aptitude for processing information quickly and offering solutions to challenges with strong decision-making skills.

      Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with advanced proficiency in Excel (v-lookup, pivot tables, macros, advanced formulas, etc.) being a plus.

      Report Interpretation: Ability to run and interpret reports and operate system tools as assigned by supervisor, leveraging data to drive informed decision-making.

      Who You Are

      • Rising juniors enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program with one year remaining, and a GPA of 3.0 or higher are encouraged to apply. All majors considered.
      • Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to influence others. Strong storytelling and presentation skills.
      • Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals.
      • Ability to independently organize and prioritize broad workload to meet deadlines in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
      • Ability to think through problems and apply strategies to solve.
      • Ability to multitask and collaborate cross functionally with multiple internal and external business partners.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office - advanced proficiency in Excel (vlookup, pivot tables, macros, advanced formulas, etc.) is a plus.
