- Answer phones and provide over-the-counter mail services.
- Receive, sort and deliver incoming US Postal, United Parcel and interoffice mail.
- Band and load mail and parcels into mail cart for distribution.
- Distribute incoming mail and parcels to county offices.
- Collect outgoing mail from county offices.
- Classify and post outgoing mail by operating (paragon) Pitney Bowes postage meter.
- Provide postage account billing statements using the Accu-trac system.
- Prepare documents and process United Parcel and special classes of US Postal mail.
- Set up and operate inserting machine system to fold and insert various mailings.
- Maintain forms, supplies and materials associated with mail services.
- Compile and sort documents, such as invoices and checks.
- Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as assigned.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Six months to one year of experience in postal/mail service or training related to mail service skills.
- Six months to one year of general office and accounting experience.
- Ability to use or learn how to use computerized equipment.
- Basic skill to use a personal computer and various software packages.
- Integrity and honesty.
- Ability to use office machines (fax, copier, calculator, etc.).
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong listening and communication skills.
- Ability to use common sense understanding to carry out written or verbal instructions.

- Knowledge of mailing zone tables.

- Intermediate-level accounting and bookkeeping skills.

The Department of Procurement and General Services is seeking an energetic and detail oriented individual to fill the Mailroom Clerk II position. This position is responsible for receiving, sorting and delivering mail and operating the postage meter, scales and inserter.
Qualified applicants will have a High School Diploma or General Education Degree and at least six months experience in postal/mail service or training related to mail service skills. Strong listening and communication skills are required in this position. Applicant will have basic knowledge of Windows, Word, Excel, Access and Outlook. Candidate must be able to work independently and maintain confidential information. Candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills, be able to multi-task and interface with all levels of County government.
The following tests may be required: timed typing, clerical exam, Word, Excel, Windows and data entry. This position requires a criminal background check.
Other information: Candidate must be able to work extended hours when necessary. Candidate must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive to various County locations.
