This position is a job family; there are four levels to the position.
Level I
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the completion of scheduled computer-processing jobs and system operations across mainframe and Linux-based platforms. Supports automation and scripting tasks, system monitoring, and scheduled backups.TYPICAL DUTIES
Operates mainframe and client/server systems, including Linux-based servers, and their peripheral equipment.
Executes and monitors scheduled jobs using automation and workload automation tools (e.g., OpCon by SMA).
Writes, updates, and maintains scripts and job schedules for automation, reporting, and backup tasks.
Performs basic preventive maintenance on all installed equipment ensuring hardware and OS-level integrity.
Ensures the completion and verification of scheduled and ad hoc data exports, system backups, and report generation.
Maintains and documents system operational procedures in the Standard Operating Procedures Manual.
Ensures hardware cleanliness, filter replacement, and timely placement of service calls.
Accurately documents and communicates shift turnover notes, job run status, and system incidents.
Works closely with internal programmers and system administrators to troubleshoot software and system errors.
Communicates professionally and responsively with peers, employees, and vendors via Webex, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and SMS.
Enters operational and job run statistics into designated databases and systems.
Archives system-generated reports according to procedure.
Completes all duties in a manner that supports security and regulatory compliance.
Maintain and understand compliance to ensure that work complies with GECU’s established policies, procedures and applicable regulations, to include Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Member Identification Program (MIP), and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC).
Other duties as may be assigned or required in connection with the general operation of the credit union and its IT operations.
Qualifications
CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Associates degree in Computer Information Systems or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum one (1) year of experience in system operations, preferably within a financial institution.
Working knowledge of Linux operating systems, including file systems, command-line tools, and scripting (Bash, Python, etc.).
Familiarity with job scheduling and automation platforms such as OpCon SMA or similar.
Understanding of backup tools, processes, and data retention best practices.
Detail-oriented with the ability to document, escalate, and resolve operational issues.
Strong communication skills and professionalism in both written and verbal interactions.
Ability to work independently and within a rotating shift schedule.
Requires up to 10 pounds, reaching above and below shoulder level continuously, lifting up to 35 pounds, bending, squatting and kneeling frequently, lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally.
