    • Assist with commissioned design professionals and consultants in the construction of new facilities to ensure compliance with district requirements and implements professional procedures and results.
    • Assist in the supervision of planning and design of renovation and new construction.
    • Define the scope of individual projects as well as coordinating and monitoring the technical work of each task.
    • Assist in organizing and directing preliminary plans, completed work drawings, and specifications of renovation and new construction.
    • Assist in the review of construction cost estimates.
    • Serve as a member of any temporary site selection committee established by the Board.
    • Assist in establishing bidding schedules.
    • Investigate and evaluate new materials, techniques, and methods for providing both adequate and economical educational facilities.
    • Assist in financial management of planning, design, and construction of renovations and new construction.
    • Hire, supervise, and evaluate all maintenance staff.
    • Assist the district in community marketing efforts related to current and future planning, design, and construction.
    • Lead and attend applicable staff meetings and training courses in addition to serving on staff committees.
    • Assume responsibility for own professional growth and development, for keeping current with literature, new research findings, for attending appropriate professional meetings and conferences as well as to maintain any credits and/or continued education of licensure/qualifications required for the position.
    • Maintain and accept responsibility for any district owned fixed asset item assigned to employee and ensure appropriate use by following district policies for acceptable use.
    • Undergo periodic evaluations according to state and board policy procedures.
    • Maintains confidentiality.
    • Regular, dependable, punctual, and in person attendance is an essential function of this position.
    • Performs such other and not specifically enumerated duties as may be requested by the Board of Education, superintendent, and/or established by district policy.
    • Read, understand, and abide by Employee Conduct Policy, GAB, all other district, state, and federal policies, and procedures and protocols as established by MCSD and the Mississippi Educator Code of Conduct.
    • Education Level: bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
    • Certifications: Educational Leadership (486) preferred.
    • Other Requirements: Experience in and knowledge of key facets of facilities operations, management, and leadership.

      Job Purpose:
      In keeping a tradition of excellence, the Maintenance Director will assist to ensure that all new and renovated physical facilities meet the highest standards possible of design, construction, and appropriateness for the education activities they are meant to foster. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
