- Building structures ranging from log cabins, woodsheds, outhouses, kiosks, and picnic pavilions, as well as smaller structures, like ramps, stairs, decks, boardwalks, informational boards, and signs.
- Installation, repairs, and maintenance of woodstoves, boilers and furnaces.
- Installation, maintenance, and repairs of electrical systems and solar systems
- Small engine maintenance, repairs, and operation
- Preventative maintenance, repairs, lubrication, and operation of tractors and equipment
- A list of two professional references.
- A copy of your driver’s license.
- This position will normally require several work trips to all Southeast communities, plus backcountry trips to remote parks and cabins, for overnight up to two weeks, but generally no longer than one week.

This position performs maintenance, repair, and construction for the entire Southeast Region of Alaska State Parks, which has park units in five communities and surrounding areas. Facilities include trails, trailheads, parking areas, 15+ public use cabins, park cabins and structures, 12 picnic pavilions, multiple day-use/picnic areas, 6 campgrounds ranging from 8 – 35 campsites, and fleet equipment of boats, ATVs, tractors, and snowmobiles. Applicant should possess the ability to perform construction and maintenance repairs using basic carpentry principals and appropriate tools, perform maintenance and repair of equipment used by this position and all regional staff, operate equipment like snowplows, tractors, ATV/snowmobiles, perform physically demanding work in the outdoors during all seasons. Maintenance work will require traveling to all Southeast communities, and remote park units, staying overnight in dry cabins, working in close proximity to bears/wildlife, and traveling by ocean-going boats and small-engine aircraft.

Core Responsibilities
Work will include cabin repairs and construction, rough and finished carpentry, painting, and more. This position will also take the lead role in new facility construction, including the construction of cabins, woodsheds, outhouses, etc. Other duties include installation of roofing, doors, and windows, and crafting handrails, stairs, decks, boardwalks, and handicap access to buildings and facilities. May construct gates or other metal fixtures by welding. Follows industry practices using lumber, hardware, wire, paint, stain, epoxy, cement, and concrete. Position requires knowledge of basic carpentry, construction, plumbing, and electrical systems
Work will require the operation of heavy equipment, ocean-going boats, ATVs, UTVs, chainsaws, brush cutters, generators, power tools, and more.

The Working Environment You Can Expect
The Southeast Region, Juneau/Eagle Beach SRA, is the primary duty location with an office, maintenance shop, and yard. The main regional office is located in downtown Juneau as a secondary work office. As mentioned above, this position requires you to travel to other SE communities and remote parks for up to two weeks at a time. As required, travel can occur in ocean-going boats, float planes, AMHS ferries, ATVs, and snowmachines.Who We Are Looking For
