  Position Overview

  Novelis (formerly known as Aleris) in Uhrichsville is seeking an experienced Maintenance Machinist to join our team. This position operates and repairs a variety of machines and mechanical instruments to support our 24/7 aluminum rolling mill.

  The successful candidate must be fully committed to engaging in safe working practices, driven to learn new processes and procedures, and have the ability to work as part of a team to achieve safety, quality and performance goals.

  As a member of the team, you can expect:

  Our Maintenance Machinist wage starts at $22.843 per hour.Once the probationary period is completed, the wage increases to $ 28.00 per hour. Our Skilled Based Incentive pay model can increase your earnings even further! Employees receive overtime and double time pay for qualifying hours worked weekly. A monthly gain-share bonus can be earned based on personal and plant performance metrics. Our benefits are excellent! We offer paid vacation and holidays. Employees are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance. We also offer a very competitive 401K plan that includes a company match and an additional Employer contribution after one year of employment!

  Responsibilities & Qualifications

  To be successful, this position will have the ability to:

  • Work in a safe manner in compliance with all Novelis safety and environmental requirements, policies, and regulatory statutes
  • Operate surface roll grinders (Mesta / Hercules)
  • Troubleshoot, inspect, and maintain/repair chocks, bearings and rolls
  • Maintain and support 6S initiatives
  • Notify appropriate personnel of irregularities in operating equipment or materials
  • Coordinate and carry out tasks as assigned by management

  REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  This position must:

  • Have knowledge of and experience machining (including at least three years of previous machine shop work) to achieve a passing score on a machining assessment
  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have basic computer and math skills
  • Have the ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays
  • Pass a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screen
  • Be able to lift at least 50 pounds
  • Be available to work any shift in a 24/7 manufacturing environment

  Novelis' Uhrichsville facility is located in Tuscarawas County, about 30 minutes from Canton, home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Our 370 employees recycle aluminum and produce coils to service the truck trailer industry and the building and construction industry.
