      The Economic Development & Planning Department's Aviation Division is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic II to join their team at Francis S. Gabreski Airport.

      Key Elements Of The Role:

      This position will provide semi-skilled assistance in airfield and building maintenance pertaining to all airport related issues: Including carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, mechanical, welding, airfield lighting, approach lighting, masonry, vehicle maintenance, landscaping, operation of airport equipment and vehicles, and related duties Position requires ability to work alone on tasks issued. Job functions include but are not limited to:

      • Assist with Runway and Taxiway lights and signs maintenance and repair (electrical repairs, bulb and fixture replacement, rebuilding of fixtures and airfield lighting and signage, critical adjustments to airfield landing aides, airfield electric vault maintenance and repair)

      • Assist with the Building maintenance and repair (HVAC, Plumbing, Carpentry, Welding, Masonry, Electric, Communications, Painting)

      • Operate airfield equipment and vehicles (Airfield tractors, loaders, bucket truck, skid steer, snow removal)

      • Assist with Equipment and Vehicle Maintenance

      • Two Way Radio Communication

      • Assist with Airfield Gate and Motor Repair

      Starting Salary Range: $37,000 - $42,000

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

      EITHER:
      (a) Completion of two (2) years of vocational education courses in a vocational school program or in an apprentice or training program in one of the craft areas;
      OR
      (b) Two (2) years of experience in minor maintenance or repair work;
      OR
      (c) An equivalent combination of education, or training, and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b);
      OR
      (d) One (1) year of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic I.
