- Maintain and repair equipment and vehicles in a scrapyard environment.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with heavy machinery.
- Perform preventative maintenance to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Repair and maintain mechanical, electrical, and diesel engine components.
- Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Utilize welding and blueprint reading skills in equipment maintenance.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing heavy equipment.
- Experience in forklift repair and maintenance.
- Knowledge of electrical systems and preventive maintenance techniques.
- Familiarity with diesel engines, motors, and drives.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics.
- High school diploma or GED certificate.
- Advanced technical or vocational training in diesel mechanics, automotive technology, or heavy equipment repair.
- Practical experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy machinery.
- On-the-job training, apprenticeships, or internships are beneficial.
- Strong understanding of mechanics, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with various tools and equipment used to repair and maintain heavy machinery.
- Ability to follow safety protocols, use protective equipment, and adhere to environmental regulations.

Job Description
A Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing large and heavy machinery used in the recycling and construction industry. This includes working with balers, shredders, cranes, wheel loaders, bulldozers, cranes, graders, excavators, and other equipment to ensure they function efficiently and safely.

Work Environment
The work is conducted in a metal scrap yard and recycling environment, almost exclusively outdoors. This is a physically demanding role requiring bending, stooping, climbing, and lifting. You will be on your feet all day, working in various weather conditions.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Vineland, New Jersey.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $85000.00/yr.

Workplace Type
This is a fully onsite position in Millville,NJ.
