- The Planner/Scheduler is responsible for planning maintenance work orders in SAP, including providing work instructions, reviewing prints & equipment manuals, ordering required parts, kitting parts, scheduling work, and capturing data from completed work orders.
- The Planner/Scheduler schedules 100% of available maintenance technician hours against work orders on a daily and weekly basis.
- The Planner/Scheduler supports the maintenance team by developing job plans, researching and requisitioning parts needed, reviewing the Preventative Maintenance (PM) process, and participating in Root Cause Analysis.
- Responsible for daily planning and scheduling of work orders.
- Develops, manages, and prints the daily maintenance work schedule.
- Leads weekly meetings between Maintenance & Operations to coordinate the following week's work and negotiates for downtime "windows" during which preventive and corrective maintenance requiring downtime can be performed.
- Makes recommendations to production concerning long-range maintenance needs.
- Prepares a weekly forecast of all jobs expected to be scheduled for the following week.
- Maintains backlog of work orders.
- Analyzes backlog work relative to available craft personnel and parts.
- Jobs that are unplanned, require engineering, waiting for materials, waiting for downtime, etc., are coded accordingly.
- Examines jobs to be done and determines scope and best way to accomplish the work.
- Consults with work order requester or maintenance supervisor when necessary for clarification.
- Researches, prices, requisitions, receives, and kits parts needed for upcoming work orders. Adds them as needed to the equipment bill of materials.
- Works with outside vendors/contractors on services, parts, and retrofits, obtaining quotes, service reports and completed vendor visit reports.
- Expedites parts as needed.
- Works with Maintenance Leads and Technicians to obtains blueprints, drawings, instructional manuals and special procedures, as needed, from files or other sources. Makes any additional sketches, diagrams, etc., necessary to clarify the intent of the work order.
- When ready for scheduling, work orders are reviewed in the Planning Meeting for entry into the schedule.
- Schedules the time of all technicians and ensures that the work scheduled balances with the man-hours available so that a full day's work is provided each technician.
- Takes manpower schedule from leads to match with production priorities to produce work schedules.
- Forecasts special maintenance manpower needs for weekends, holidays, and projects done in house, and coordinates these requirements through the maintenance manager.
- Maintains a list of planned work orders requiring equipment to be down, so that some or all can be performed in the event of an unscheduled downtime. These lists, by machine ID, are reviewed and updated weekly.
- Develops and updates preventative maintenance work (PM’s) required to ensure long term reliability of the equipment.
- Follows up with technicians to ensure completed work orders have time confirmed and comments entered on the work performed.
- Carefully reviews completed schedules and corresponding work orders returned by the maintenance supervisors / leads, monitors work order progress, and prepares associated reports.
- Reviews with the Maintenance Leads the actual labor expended versus estimated labor and material used for completed jobs to determine corrective measures needed to improve the accuracy of estimating and improving methods of doing work. Job estimates are continually refined.
- Develops a file of standard work orders (plans) for regularly recurring repair jobs, based on historical experience, to simplify the planning process.
- Works with Leads and Technicians to develop and maintain reference systems (library).
- Ensures safety needs are prioritized in work planning and scheduling. Promotes environmental and sustainability activities.
- Keeps the Maintenance Manager and other stakeholders properly informed on all abnormal or critical situations.
- Updates the asset hierarchy in SAP and maintains the equipment bill of materials.
- Makes recommendations for system improvement.
- Recommends additions, deletions, and changes to storeroom inventory.
- Performs other tasks and special assignments as requested by the Maintenance & Reliability Engineering Managers.
- This position has no supervisory responsibility.
- Strong Computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, File Management systems, Search Engines).
- SAP experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of maintaining manufacturing equipment (mechanical & electrical).
- Basic math skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills required. Must be able to manage & maintain a large backlog of work orders.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Requires 2 or more years of experience at as a general mechanic, electrician, or higher level maintenance position in a manufacturing environment.
- Planning & scheduling experience preferred.
- Work environment will generally be an office in a manufacturing facility.
- This position is required to move about the plant to evaluate and plan maintenance work, which may be noisy and hot.

Compensation and Benefits:
The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between
$47,600-$90,000Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
